During the show in 16mm Sarah Poffa visited, we made up different names for Jess comic strips - Jess Black and the Crepe Affair, Jess Black and The Impossible - we quite liked the sound of them... and following "I" piece I'd spoken with some Impossible people (it is a band - improvisational and open to collaborations) about maybe doing something with them. So we then spoke a bit about Jess Black and The Impossible as a potential project / event.

Meanwhile, Sarah had been making some interesting clothes, which she asked 3 of her friends including me to model in a college fashion show - dancer style. The outfits include suits printed with her own London mapping under dresses made of recycled bicycle inner tubes. We did quite an alternative catwalk: dancing, jumping, lifting, seriously strutting... which was great fun. The other dancers Tash and Thom often dance with The Impossible, so I joined the next gig in South London to again dance with Tash and made up in Jess Black style: we talked of doing something more directly graphic novel but decided not to at that point as I needed more time - there were only a few days - seems it happened a bit anyway.

There is a clip from Sarah's show at http://www.vimeo.com/1309891 It included people involved with the Sanford community and was designed, performed and documented by residents of the street.
There will be an art show in October that I'm thinking towards regarding a Jess / graphic novel style collaboration with the band... I'll update here with thoughts on that and welcome comments / feedback.
At the moment I'm in my 'new' studio in Margate - which 16mm proved a need for. It's amazing. Being able to follow a thought and a thought, get bored, get back into it, get lonely, then productive, tired, happy, and just keep going. It's going to be around 2 days and a night each week I reckon, am interested to see what comes out of it. The extra space, being by the sea, taking a step away from everyday stuff... the transitional journey, and it feels slower here, time is less pressured.

Yes, so here I'll work up a storyboard with initial ideas for Jess Black and The Impossible: we will see...
